"Te Whare Awhina" is the college's "Wellness Centre" ensureing that an holistic approach in available to all students. This is a free confidential and impartial service supporting students' total wellbeing.
A managed centre with a guidance counsellor, behavioural coach, a doctor, nurse and visits from social community agencies.
"Te Whare Awhina" supports the school's mission statement, visions and beliefs by promoting a "Respect Model" which embraces the three pillars of "respect" value; respect for self, respect for others and respect for property/environment. This model has evolved as an attempt to meet the students' needs and hopefully permeates in every classroom and school activities, whcih will ultimately nourish a healthy and safe Reporoa College.
"Respect Model" is underpinned by Whare Tapa Wha, Resilency, Strenght/Capacity, Victory over Violence and Protective/Preventive concepts.
Through the support of the "Respect Model" the following school programmes are lead by various members of the staff:
Transition Class, Respect Project Group, Nga Kotiro Tumeke Girls Support Group, Boys Support Programme, Peer Support, Peer Mediators, Talent and Gifted Students, Victory over Violence and Smoke Cessation Programme.
