Accommodation Policy
Students under 18 years of age:
As required by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students, students ages less than 18 must live in one of the following types of accommodation.
Students aged 18 and over:
Experience has shown us that students who live in school Homestays do better academically than those in other types of accommodation. Students in flats tend to perform particularly poorly. For this reason, students aged 18 and over, who wish to live in a type of accommodation other than those listed above, must apply to the Principal for permission. Such permission will be granted only in exceptional circumstances.
Accommodation Costs
Homestay Costs
Parents of International Students pay an initial placement fee of $250.00 for homestay accommodation and thereafter payments of NZ $180.00 per week, monthly and in advance, by way of automatic bank transfer to Reporoa College.
Parents of International Students must forward the placement fee - plus four weeks board - before the student's arrival in New Zealand.
If the student does not come to New Zealand, the parent will be entitled to have the board money refunded, if we are given adequate notice ( at least one week prior to expected arrival). Late cancellations will mean some deductions may be made to recompense homestay/designated caregiver hosts for inconvenience and expenses incurred.
Designated Caregiver Costs
Students who are staying with designated caregivers must have an Indemnity Contract and International Student Designated Caregiver Agreement between the students' parents and the caregivers signed and copies of each document given to Reporoa College. This will detail the responsibilities and costs to each party concerned.
