Medical and Travel Insurance Requirements

Most students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand, unless they are

  • A resident or citizen of Australia; or
  • A National or the United Kingdom in New Zealand: or
  • The holder of a Temporary Permit that is valid for two years or more.
If you do not belong to one of these special categories and you receive medical treatment during your visit, you will be liable for the full costs of the treatment.

It is now compulsory that you have Medical and Travel Insurance.  This can be arranged by Reporoa College through Uni-Care Travel Insurance at a cost of $418 per year.  (Please tell us if you have any medical problems, which could affect an insurance claim).   The College will organise this for you before you arrive in New Zealand.  Translations of benefits and rates can be viewed at http://www.uni-care.org/inbound.html

If you make your own arrangements, the school requires proof that you have done so and the policy must be equal to or better than the Unicare policy and must be New Zealand based.  A copy of the policy must be supplied to Reporoa College prior to the students commencement at the College.
